This residency opportunity was built for local BIPOC artists in our community to share their stories.

Black, Indigenous, and POC artists from across the region are invited to create new work, supported by Artcite Inc. through our residency program. The successful applicant will receive access to the Artcite Inc. gallery to utilize as an open studio space for one month. They will receive an honourarium of $800 and have the opportunity to select a guest mentor for a virtual or in-person studio visit. Artcite Inc. staff will also arrange for professional documentation of the artist’s work if requested/applicable.

Artcite Inc. is a space for experimentation and innovation. As an organization and a community, we must respond to calls for equity in the arts. This initiative is built to engage local artists and communities who have been previously underrepresented by Artcite Inc. Artcite Inc. supports new projects and continues to consider the ways in which environment and racial identity play a critical role in conversations about labour, public health, recreation, housing, activism, culture and history.
