Artcite Inc. is excited to engage Xuan Ye through Option+Shift, a series of online talks with artists and curators whose practices represent some of the diverse range of digital media perspectives being explored today. Working in animation, video, GIFs and other unexpected or unconventional use of media, these speakers help us think expansively and imagine different possibilities within our increasingly digital, COVID reality. 

Xuan Ye 叶轩 is an artist, musician and engineer who makes mixed media installations and performances synthesizing language, code, sound, body, image, data, light, and time. Their recent work explores the poetic forces of media, coupling with non-human agencies to experiment with world-building and system-modelling in the speculative space of sensorium that is beyond our consciousness. X’s work has been featured, exhibited and performed internationally, including Fonderie Darling (CA), Varley Art Gallery of Markham (CA), Canadian Art, AGO (CA), Vivid Projects (UK), Supermarket Art Fair (SE), InterAccess (CA), Inside-out Art Museum (CN), Goethe-Institut (Beijing & Montreal), ArtAsiaPacific, KUNSTFORUM (GE), Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center (US), Trinity Square Video (CA), among others. X is a finalist of EQ Bank Digital Artists Award and a recipient of SSHRC scholarship. X’s live performances and music releases have received critical accolades from Bandcamp, Musicworks and Exclaim!
