CARFAC Info Session and some reflections about Time and artistic labour | MAYWORKS WINDSOR
In celebration of Windsor’s MAYWORKS festival, Artcite and the Arts Council Windsor & Region present an information session exploring fair compensation for artists, CARFAC fees, and equitable payments for digital arts. What is covered and not covered when an artist receives an hourly fee? Hosted by the Programming Coordinator of Artcite Inc. Imogen Clendinning, and in conversation with the Executive Director of the ACWR, Alejandro Tamayo. During the presentation, attendees will be given an overview of the CARFAC fee schedule for artists, a short introduction to fair compensation for digital arts and virtual offerings, and will be invited to participate in a reflection about the nature of time and artistic labour. The presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q & A. Tune in via Zoom on May 29th at 5:30pm (est).

Imogen Clendinning is a video artist, administrator and curator who resides as an uninvited guest in Waawiiyaatanong (known in a colonial context as Windsor, ON). Her practice involves activating antiquated media technologies and found films, re-editing and appropriating in order to find new meaning. Clendinning received her MFA from the University of Windsor in 2019. She has been involved in community building and advocacy through the arts for many years, having served on the board of directors at the White Water Gallery (North Bay, ON), and collaborated with many other not for profits such as the Near North Mobile Media Lab (North Bay, ON), Windsor Hackforge, and the Arts Council Windsor & Region. Clendinning is currently the Programming Coordinator at Artcite Inc., an artist-run centre focused on community building and bringing contemporary arts to Waawiiyaatanong and the larger surrounding region.
Alejandro Tamayo is a visual artist, art administrator, and writer. His diverse practice encompasses sculpture, installation, drawing, photography, text-based and digital and electronic art. Tamayo has an MFA from the National University of Colombia and completed a PhD in Visual Arts with emphasis in sculpture and installation from York University. He is currently the executive director of the Arts Council Windsor & Region.
