This month our presenter is Rose Tobin, born Rosaria Grace Corsetti, owner of Mangia Y'all. Rose will reminisce about her father as she discusses one of her favourite dinners he used to prepare: Polenta Board. Her father lived in the Frosinone region of Italy, in a small town nestled in the mountains called Pescosolido. He had ten brothers and sisters, and this dish was a resourceful way for his mother to feed so many children. Each time her father prepared a meal, it would evoke memories for him. He would recount his childhood tales to Rose, who was captivated by his stories. Rose will be using her father's polenta board to prepare the dish for Table Talk participants: a blend of creamy boiled cornmeal topped with a tomato-based sauce. Rose's father passed away a little over a year ago. This dish helps her feel connected to him despite his absence.
Table Talk offers an interactive experience that includes food tasting. Each participant will leave with a recipe so they can prepare the meal for others and pass on the knowledge and stories they've been told. If you're meat-free, please let us know by choosing the veg option when registering.
This event is part of our bi-monthly series Table Talk, an ongoing collaborative program with COOK-UP that invites folks to consider the ways food and art come together to transform, connect, and nourish. Through stories and memories, participants are invited to interact with the ingredients that make up a dish. Registration required. Spaces are limited. Free!
