Galleries and Artist Co-ops in Windsor-Essex: where are they and what do they do? This workshop, led by Alejandro Tamayo, is an introduction to arts spaces in Windsor-Essex. Whether it be artist-run, not-for-profits, independently owned Galleries, or artist co-ops, this is an opportunity to understand the artistic landscape of our Windsor-Essex Community.
Alejandro Tamayo (he/him) is a Colombian/Canadian visual artist and arts administrator.
His work examines the poetic and disruptive potential of found objects and materials as vehicles for reflecting on contemporary modes of art production and systems of meaning. The complexities involved in the subject-object relationship, as well as public engagement and participation, are at the core of his practice and research.
Alejandro is the director of the Arts Council Windsor & Region (ACWR).
This event is part of our monthly What Works? series, an ongoing practical skills workshop program for youth working toward a career in arts administration. What Works? is open to all Windsor-Essex area youth, ages 15–24, and is part of the Community Leadership for Aspiring Arts Professionals (CLAAP) program. Registration required. Spaces are limited. Free!
