What Works? #8: Business Skills for Artists w/ Kamryn Cusumano and Elliott Hale

Business Skills for Artists. This workshop, led by Kamryn Cusumano and Elliott Hale, will offer strategies for self-promotion, time management, networking, and other essential tools for independent artists and freelancers.

Kamryn Cusumano is a downtown Windsor activist and creative. With beginnings in the photography world starting in 2018, Kamryn built a strong brand online with portrait, branding and fashion photography as well as creating zines and hosting DIY parties bringing community together. In 2019 Kamryn started “Stay Open” where she was able to leverage her digital marketing skills to managing the social accounts of other local brands testing her ability to put her knowledge into action across mediums. Since then Kamryn has been led many different creative projects including opening a studio downtown, curating art shows, managing artists and producing and hosting a music show on Bell Fibe. Kamryn is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and experience over the last 6 years with her community.

Elliott Hale is a Windsor filmmaker who attended the University of Windsor for Communications, Media and Film. He has been doing film and video work for over 9 years collaborating with filmmakers such as Michael Stasko, Theodore Bezaire, Gavin Michael Booth, Tony Lau, Aram Collier, Dan Slater, and many others. He has a huge interest in storytelling, as well as a great passion for cinematography. He shot and directed a Bell Fibe TV1 series titled “Uma Loft Sessions”. His short film Flight Night has been showcased at the AltFF Alternative Film Festival, and the Chicago Amarcord Arthouse Television Awards. His short film Snow has been showcased at the AltFF Alternative Film Festival the Director’s Circle Festival of Shorts, Canada Shorts - Canadian & International Short Film Fest, and aired on CBC through Absolutely Windsor: Windsor Shorts. He runs his videography business Elliott Hale Film and Video with a focus on wedding videography, music videos, corporate and commercial video work.


This event is part of our monthly What Works? series, an ongoing practical skills workshop program for youth working toward a career in arts administration. What Works? is open to all Windsor-Essex area youth, ages 15–24, and is part of the Community Leadership for Aspiring Arts Professionals (CLAAP) program. Registration required. Spaces are limited.
