Mobilize for Peace w/ Larry Wasslen and Bilal Nasser
Join us on Sunday, September 29 at 2pm for a discussion on escalating military spending, the dangerous drive to world war, Canada’s role in NATO, Palestine & the new "Cold War" on China, and the need to strengthen the peace movement locally and across the country. Let us discuss as well the building and strengthening of a peace movement in Windsor-Essex! Free!
Kites for Palestinian Liberation
Join us for an afternoon of creativity and solidarity, inspired by Refaat Alareer’s poem, If I Must Die, which uses the imagery of the kite as a symbol of hope, love, and liberation. The event will include a kite-making workshop and a screening of Some Strings from 3–6pm. Some Strings is a collection of unreleased short films rooted in Palestine, created by artists and filmmakers from around the world. All kite-making materials will be provided, all are welcome, and everything is free!
Jude Abu Zaineh: Dearly Beloved
Dearly Beloved is an intimate homage to ancestral lands, reflecting the intricate ecology of occupied New York and Ontario, where Jude Abu Zaineh resides. This work explores the dynamic interplay of cultural and geographical landscapes through indigenous and introduced plant species and food remnants. Petri-dish environments reveal hidden microbial communities, making the invisible visible while highlighting hybrid existences. Dearly Beloved invites viewers to reflect on the symbiotic relationships within nature, celebrating the enduring strength of those navigating and enriching diverse landscapes despite imperial and colonial presence.
Stop Motion Workshop w/ Catherine Hois
Dive into the magical world of stop-motion animation with Catherine Hois, a talented local Windsor artist and stop-motion short-filmmaker! This is a free, beginner-level stop-motion animation art class for anyone interested in this art form. We will be exploring the art of stop-motion by creating our own short storylines, making sets and puppets, and bringing them to life with animation. We will be using a variety of fun materials that you can play and experiment with!

In Your Pocket: Portrait of Us
An official 2024 Windsor-Essex Pride Fest event. Join us at Artcite Inc. on Thursday, August 8, from 7–9pm for a special screening of In Your Pocket: Portrait of Us, a collection of short films by LGBTQ+ creators. Delving into its rich archive, RT Collective has reorganized its past thematic programs, playfully cutting, pasting, and selecting works from over 10 years to create a program that showcases the funny, the sexy, the poetic, and the quotidian aspects of queer life. Presented in partnership with RT Collective and Windsor-Essex Pride Fest.
Queer'd Ear
An official 2024 Windsor-Essex Pride Fest event. Celebrate Windsor-Essex Pride Fest with Queer'd Ear, a DJ workshop and cross-border dance party presented in partnership with CJAM 99.1 FM and Windsor-Essex Pride Fest! Join us at Artcite on Wednesday, August 7, starting at 7:30pm for a free, two-part event featuring Detroit-based DJs Duck Trash and Garrison XR. Dive into the beats and learn fundamental DJing skills at our interactive workshop from 7:30-9:30pm, followed immediately by a high-energy dance party from 9:30–midnight! This event is all ages!
Art Jam Pride
An official 2024 Windsor-Essex Pride Fest event. Join us at Artcite Inc. on Tuesday, August 6, from 2–8pm for Art Jam Pride: a free art-making event in preparation for the pride parade! Art Jam Pride is a fun and friendly opportunity to express your creativity and craft buttons, signs, posters, and artworks to show your support and spread love at this year's parade. All ages are welcome, and participation is free. Presented in partnership with Vanguard Youth Arts Collective and Windsor-Essex Pride Fest.
From Needs into Actions (Continuing the Conversation)
Thank you to everyone who attended the From Needs into Actions community conversation at Artspeak Gallery in June! We're excited to announce that the conversation will continue at Artcite Inc. on Friday, August 2, from 5:30 to 6:30pm. We'll discuss how Windsor can better support and nurture the local arts scene. Performance + Artist Talk: Anahí González
Join Anahí González at Artcite on Saturday, July 13, for a free Artist Talk featuring a tour of her solo exhibition, "used as a material in the production of another". The talk will conclude with a group conversation, and attendees will be invited to create their own maps inspired by González’s piece "Mapa de Norte America Invertida (2023)." Additionally, González will perform "Employee of the Month, and the Next One, and the Next One... (2024)" from noon until the talk begins at 2pm.
Anahí González: used as a material in the production of another
Anahí González explores migration, Mexican labour, and identity with questions relating to commerce, systems of power and the event of photography through the mediums of photography, installations, and participatory practices. In “used as a material in the production of another", González engages with different industries that connect today’s Mexico and Canada, such as the automotive industry, agriculture, and others, and highlights how systems of power perceive Mexican labour as mobile, multi-purpose, and temporary.
NOISE FEST
Head down to Artcite on Saturday, July 6, for NOISE FEST: a full day of experimental music performances, divided into two sets. Featuring: friendly user, Bilal Nasser, GaSH, men at night, TONEDEATH, Malfiore, DD, EROVORE, Crude Flame, Nate Gelinas, greyhound, SXXN, and AFC. This event is all ages and entirely free. Artist Talk: Cassie Paine

Plaster Coin Carving Workshop w/ Cassie Paine
Join us at 2pm on May 19 for a very special Sunday afternoon workshop with Cassie Paine! On 519 Day (Windsor Day), Cassie will be hosting a free plaster coin carving workshop in the gallery, surrounded by her current exhibition, Pedestrian Values. The workshop considers the design and function of currency at large—that all currency is at one point invented, arbitrary and fictitious—designed to respond to the needs or desires of a social body.

Cassie Paine: Pedestrian Values
Pedestrian Values reflects on economic shifts, labour patterns, and development in post-industrial urban cities. Using metal fabrication casting, and interventionist tactics to alter coded materials and infrastructure found in public space, these installations reveal underlying power structures in urban environments, critiquing capitalist value systems focused on profit and development, exposing how these ideals are built into our everyday environment.
